How long can I keep the dumpster?

The dumpster service is for 7 day, with additional time available.

If you fill up your dumpsters earlier than expected or need to extend your time frame, please contact us as soon as possible and we will try our best to accommodate your needs.

Am I allowed to have a dumpster at my house or apartment?

Having a dumpster on-site at a single-family home is almost always possible. If you have Johns Disposal as your service provider, we are able to deliver a dumpster.

We are able to deliver to apartments, but you will need permission before we can deliver the dumpster.

Where are dumpsters allowed to be placed?

Dumpsters should be placed on a solid, flat level area, normally in the driveway. If the dumpster is to be placed on the yard, Johns Disposal is not responsible for any damages to the lawn, underground utilities, or septic tanks. Dumpsters placed on grass can sink into the ground and leave an indent.

If neither the driveway or yard is an option, dumpsters can be placed on the street. You will need to get permission from your municipality, understand any laws and guidelines about dumpster use, and you may need to purchase a permit before we can deliver the dumpster.

We are able to deliver to HOA and apartment buildings; you will need permission before we can deliver the dumpster.

Dumpsters cannot block shared driveways or utilities. Dumpsters must also be placed in an area where our trucks can easily access the dumpster for drop-off and pick-up.

I currently have a full dumpster and I need another dumpster, what should I do?

If you need another dumpster, give us a call. We will either empty and bring back the one you have or bring you a new dumpster and remove the first dumpster. The cost of this is the same as getting another dumpster.

What items can you put in the dumpster?

Dumpsters can accommodate non-hazardous waste, debris, and general junk. Please do not overfill the dumpster.

The most common items include:
- Packaging
- Mattresses
- Toys
- Cloth
- Furniture (wooden, metal, or PVC)
- Cabinetry
- Hardware and fixtures (such as lights and sinks)
- Siding
- Drywall
- Dried paint cans
- Construction debris
- Carpeting or flooring
- Concrete (only in 20 yard dumpsters)
- Roofing shingles (only in 12 and 20 yard dumpsters)

If you have an item that you want to dispose of, but are unsure if it can go into the dumpster, please contact us.

What cannot be placed in the dumpster?

- Hazardous or flammable items
- Wet paint cans or lacquer containers
- Appliances
- Large metal
- Electronics
- Tires
- Medical waste
- Yard waste
- Dirt, gravel

If you would like to dispose of  large volumes of dirt, gravel, yard waste, appliances/metal, tires, electronics, bricks, or concrete, let us know! We are able to take these materials, as long as they are the only type of item in the dumpster: an example would be a dumpster only filled with tires.   We have to make accommodations for these types of materials and the cost will vary.
